Ariadne in Winter | Alaska Model Photographer | Vanessa Powell

Poetry, lyrics, quotes, mythology, fairy tales. I love it all. Language, language, language, and visuals galore. I draw so much inspiration from these sources.
This past winter, we had a snap of cold that lasted far longer that anyone truly appreciated. In the midst of those frigid temps I found myself flipping through some pages of my favorite muses. I ended up on a page with the story of the Labyrinth and Ariadne. Ariadne, who lead Perseus through the Labyrinth with her string. That little spark ignited a visual firestorm for me and resulted in this shoot with beautiful, young model, Taylor Moss.
This girl braved -7 degrees in that thin maxi dress. She handled it like a pro and later told me that it was one of the highlights of her winter shooting season. For me, one of the highlights (besides this image) was stringing the red yarn through the trees and being treated with the presence of a Great Horned Owl flying above. SO amazing and memorable.
